Our Mission
To provide a non-judgmental community focus on integrity, empathy and compassion for those who are in need, and tolerance for those who do not understand the diversity of the community. About Pride What is Pride? A number of cities around the world hold annual parades, festivals and events that celebrate diversity and human rights in their communities. Pride events are coordinated by local charities or volunteer organizations. In Kelowna, pride is organized by Okanagan Pride. Why Pride? Despite the many advancements in LGBT rights, members of our community still face prejudice and discrimination every day. In fact, LGBT persons face the death penalty in several countries. Celebrating pride is a symbol of solidarity and an opportunity to express the vivid personalities which reflect diverse LGBT communities throughout the world. Participants join the festivities to remind the world that everyone deserves equal rights, and people should be free to live their lives – void of judgement or hate.
To create a supportive environment for the community by providing Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered and Queer resources for the Central Okanagan.
